Overview of Zinc Deficiency

Zinc deficiency is associated with a number of medical conditions, including:
  • Prostate problems.
  • Symptoms of hypothyroidism, because zinc is required for T3 to bind to receptors; zinc levels correlate with T4 and T3 levels [SpectraCell seminar, 5/2010].

Etiology of Zinc Deficiency

Zinc deficiency may be due to poor dietary intake or absorption, or to accelerated loss. According to [SpectraCell], elevated T4 increases loss of T4.
