Doctor Weyrich Treats Back Pain

Most people do not know that Naturopathic Medical Doctors (NMD) are licensed to do everything (as taught) that Chiropractors are licensed to do.

Dr. Weyrich studied the art of spinal manipulation as part of his Naturopathic Medical Doctor NMD degree. His teachers included both Naturopathic Medical Doctors (NMD) as well as Chiropractors (DC), including: Dr. "Nick" Buratovitch, NMD; Dr. "Q" Makeeta, DC; Michael Jacobson, DC; and Dr. Robert Gear Jr, NMD, DC. Since he graduated from a Naturopathic Medical School rather than a Chiropractic school, Dr. Weyrich cannot call himself a chiropractor. However, Dr. Weyrich notes that the textbooks used by Naturopathic schools, Chiropractic schools, and Osteopathic schools are often the same or similar in content.

After graduation, Dr. Weyrich has furthered his skills with continuing education offered by Drs. "Nick," Arlan Fuhr, DC [inventor of the Activator Method] and associates , Sean Flannagan, DPT [Doctor of Physical Therapy], and worked as Dr. Gear's understudy/assistant from 2007 to 2021. Dr. Weyrich is grateful for all the learning passed on from all of his teachers.

Dr. Weyrich is now working with a new company, 4 Health and Wellness, which is located at 404 W Main Street in Payson, AZ.

Dr. Weyrich's treatment philosophy for spinal pain includes:

  • Use minimum force required; not too much and not too little.
  • Test, don't guess: check the patient's body's response to proposed force using gentle action before applying full force.
  • Check after applying force to see if the patient has responded positively, and re-evaluate if not.
  • If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Once the patient's complaint's have been addressed to the maximum possible in a treatment session, STOP.
  • Massage, ultrasound therapy, diathermy, IR-sauna, cold application, acupuncture, or other adjunctive therapies may be helpful in relaxing the spinal mucles and reducing swelling prior to spinal manipulation, because the more relaxed the spinal muscles are before spinal manipulation, the easier it is for Dr. Weyrich to achieve the desired spinal adjustment with the least discomfort to the patient.
  • While Dr. Weyrich is trained in a variety of methods, his preference is to use Activator Method techniques when treating the neck, and Thompson Drop Table techniques when treating the back and pelvis.

How can Anti-Aging Medicine help You?

Anti-Aging Medicine helps you "be all that you can be". That means helping you to become your OPTIMUM self.

Standard allopathic medicine only tries to keep you in the reference range that they define as normal (middle 95% of the bell curve). There is a big difference between being near the bottom of the normal range, being near the top of the normal range, and being in the best part of the range for optimum health.

For example, if a patient is tested for thyroid disease in allopathic medicine, a TSH lab test result of anywhere between 0.45 and 4.5 is "within normal limits". No distinction is made between 0.46 and 4.4, and the patient is told they do not have a diagnosis to be treated. If the patient's TSH exceeds 4.5, then standard allopathic medicine has a one-size-fits-all treatment, which is to prescribe levothyroxine (Synthroid ™).

Anti-Aging Medicine uses all the same tests as allopathic medicine, plus other more advanced tests, but uses a more sophisticated approach to applying the test data to help the patient enter the Goldilocks Zone of "just right", which is the optimum zone.

Anti-aging medicine goes beyond this approach and seeks to move the patient towards the "just right" zone, using a variety of nutritional and pharmaceutical interventions according to the patient's own unique genetics and physiology as tested. The "just right" zone varies with the genetics of the individual and their life history. Dr. Weyrich is trained to determine which tests are most relevant to your current condition, what your "just right" zone is, and how to move you towards the "zone" to achieve optimization of your "life force."

The goal of this longevity approach is that you live life better and longer. You slow down the clock or perhaps even "turn back the hands of time." Then you can achieve the best function possible for all your activities of living.

For a limited time, Dr. Weyrich is offering a free 15-minute consultation at Payson Health and Wellness to discuss how he would approach your individual anti-aging needs, including your good, better, and best individualized treatment options and the cost of each. Call Call (928) 474-7409 (928) 474-7409 during business hours to schedule your no-cost consultation.

Thyroid Optimization

Did you know that only 21% of people who have symptoms of hypothyroidism that would respond to treatment have an abnormal TSH blood test, and that most allopathic medical doctors only use the TSH test to diagnose thyroid disease? Think of the untold misery of the other 79% of thyroid sufferers who are told they don't have a problem!

Furthermore, did you know that most allopathic medical doctors only use one treatment for low thyroid - a drug called levothyroxine (Synthroid, etc). This works great for some people, but it fails for many others, because a TSH test by itself does not identify WHY the TSH is abnormal, and therefore cannot determine the best treatment. Dr. Weyrich uses additional testing to fully diagnose the problem, and determine which treatment is best for the individual patient.

If you, or someone you love, is suffering symptoms of low thyroid, but has been told that there is nothing wrong with their thyroid, or are being treated with levothyroxine (Synthroid, etc) but are not getting better, it is time to talk to Dr. Weyrich!

Introducing Dr. Weyrich

Dr. Weyrich is a physician licensed to practice as a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD) in Arizona. He provides precision evidence-based diagnosis and treatment using the best of genomics, functional, and naturopathic medicine to patients who choose to self-pay for services not covered by insurance, so that his patients can optimize their health, vitality, and longevity.

He has been in private practice in Arizona since his graduation from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (Tempe, AZ) in 2007, and currently offers his services in Payson and Phoenix, Arizona. He also earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Tennessee (1981), and is ABD in Computer Science and Engineering from Auburn University (1984).

Dr. Weyrich is a board Certified Health Practitioner Diplomate in the Clinical Science of Anti-Aging by The American Board of Anti-Aging Health Practitioners (ABAAHP), and is Board Certified in Neurofeedback, Fellow by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance. He is also certified in functional diagnostic medicine by the Functional Medicine University. He is a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging (A4M) and the Endocrinology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (EndoANP), and has been an associate member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine.

There is a growing body of evidence that disorders as varied as aging, traumatic brain injury, post-concussive syndrome, autism, AD(H)D, anxiety, depression, epilepsy, stroke, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune diseases, irritable bowel, inflammatory bowel, Alzheimer's, diabetes, as well as other chronic and degenerative diseases, all share common features of hormone imbalances (thyroid, adrenal, sex, growth hormone), neurotransmitter imbalances, brainwave imbalances, immune system imbalances, inflammation, nutritional imbalances, gut dysbiosis, leaky gut, food sensitivities, and environmental toxicity.

Combining several different treatment techniques in a systems approach is often synergistic and achieves far better results than can be obtained from specialists who focus on only one modality. As such, these disorders all respond to variations on the same genomic testing, precision functional medicine diagnostic work-up, and naturopathic treatment protocols using bio-identical hormones, amino acid testing and balancing, neurofeedback, nutrition, and immune system balancing. When appropriate, Dr. Weyrich also prescribes conventional medications to provide immediate relief while underlying causes are addressed more naturally. In some cases, Dr. Weyrich also provides acupuncture, spinal manipulation and other physical modalities.

Because Dr. Weyrich practices "outside the box" of conventional (allopathic) western medicine, as defined "by the book" of the insurance companies, most of the treatments he provides are not covered by insurance. Rather than compete with conventional allopathic doctors who can accept insurance, Dr. Weyrich focuses on providing complementary and alternative care that is not covered by such insurance. Dr. Weyrich encourages all his patients to also have a conventional allopathic doctor (MD, DO, NP, etc), so that they can access primary care services covered by insurance. Dr. Weyrich is happy to coordinate care with conventional allopathic doctors, but generally speaking, these doctors are constrained by your insurance company to only order tests and treatments that are approved by your insurance company, and cannot or will not order additional tests suggested by Dr. Weyrich.
